Welcome! I am J. Pystynen, linguist and occasional mathematician. This is my research work business card.

My research interests mainly cluster around historical phonology. I am known for expertise in particular on the Uralic family.

Other topics I have worked on (non-exhaustive): etymology, lexicography, historical morphology, phonological typology, diachronic typology;
Cushitic, Iranic, Dravidian, Yukaghir, Northeast Caucasian, Indo-Uralic, Nostratic, constructed languages

I am based at the Finno-Ugrian studies sub-department of University of Helsinki, and my primary email addrеss is juho · pystynenhelsinki · fi. I am fluent in English and Finnish, and read well enough also German, Swedish and Estonian.
